LiftingEquipment:ColorCodeRequirementsintheprocedurePR-1708Page1of2Section/paragraphColorCodeRequirements4.7Inspection,TestingandCertificationLiftingaccessories/-appliances,havingpassedthe6monthlyinspections,shallbecodedwiththeapplicablecolor.5.5MarkingandColorCodingofLiftingAccessoriesEnsurethatallhardstampingofliftingitemsiscarriedoutusinglowstressstamps.Ensurethatnodamagetotheitemhasoccurredduetothehardstamping.Allliftingaccessories,whichhavebeeninspectedandfoundfitforpurposeforamaximumsixmonths,shallbecolorcoded.FordetailsofPDO’scolorcodingrefertoParagraph12.Allitemsshallhaveasaminimumtheuniquenumberandthesafeworkingload(SWL).10.4ColorcodingofpermanentlyattachedliftingsetsAllpermanentlyattachedliftingsets,whichhavebeeninspectedandfoundfitforpurposeforamaximumsixmonths,shallbecolorcodedasperparagraph12.Inadditiontoindicatethattheliftingsetispermanentlyattached,itshallbecolourcodedpurple.12ColorCodingAllliftingaccessoriesandliftingappliances,ownedbyPDO,aspertable5.1and7.1shallbethoroughlyinspectedat6monthlyintervals.Uponsatisfactoryresultsofthethoroughexamination,theColorCodeshallbepaintedoneverypieceofliftinggear.Thecolorindicatestotheuserthatathoroughexaminationhasbeenperformedwithintheprescribedperiod.Incaseofunsatisfactoryresultstheequipmentshallbequarantined,coloredrediftobedisposed,ifrepairabletobecoloredblackandlockedawaytopreventunintendeduse.Iftheequipmentcannotberepaireditshallberendereduseless.Anewcolorshallbeintroducedeverysixmonthsandeachcolorshallbecurrentforaperiodof8months.Thetwomonthsoverlapistoensureliftinggearisavailableforuseatalltimes.Therearefourcolorsinthesequenceandthecycleisrepeatedevery2years(seefigure12.1).Figure12.1–LiftingGearColorCodeBiannualcycleLiftingEquipment:ColorCodeRequirementsintheprocedurePR-1708Page2of2Section/paragraphColorCodeRequirementsCompanypracticeistohaveallavailableliftingaccessories/appliancesexaminedandcolorcodedtwiceperyearinFebruary/MarchandAugust/September.Anyliftinggearthatdoesnothaveavisiblecolorbandorwherethecolorisoutofdate,shallnotbeused.Itshallbereturnedtotheriggingstore.Suchequipmentshallnotbere-issuedoruseduntilaftersatisfactorythoroughexaminationbyaliftingequipmentInspector.PaintingofthecolorcodesshallbetheresponsibilityoftheassetcustodianorhisnomineeandshallbewitnessedbytheliftingequipmentInspector.AllmainworksitesshallhavealiftinggearColorCodeIdentityBoardwiththecurrentcolorcodesdisplayed.(seebelowtheColorCodeIdentityBoardfromFahud)Theboardshalldisplaybothvalidcolorsduring“changeoutperiod”andthesinglevalidcoloratothertimes.Appendix1:GlossaryofDefinitions,TermsandAbbreviationsColorCode:Amethodofmarkingequipment(normallywithpaintorplasticcableties)togiveavisualindicationofitscertification/inspectionstatus.This'coded'colourischangedeverysixmonths.PermanentlyAttachedSlingsSets:PermanentlyAttachedSlingsSetsareusedonlyfortransportationofcontainers.Theymustnotbeusedforgeneralliftingduties.TheseslingsarecolourcodedPurple.Appendix3a:RolesandResponsibilitiesLiftingequipmentassetcustodian,alllocations:Takecarethattheliftingequipmentiscleanedpriortotheinspection,testweightsareavailableandaftersatisfactoryresultsoftheinspectiontheliftingequipmentismarked/colorcoded.
