1JobDescriptionHealth&SafetyManagerReportsto:TechnicalDirectorBase:PeterboroughOfficeSalaryCirca:upto£35,000perannumHours:MondaytoFriday,from9.00amtill5.00pm(totalling35hoursperweek),althoughsomeflexibilityisrequiredReportingtotheTechnicalDirectortheprimaryroleoftheH&SManageristoadvisestaffonallsafety,healthandwelfarematterstoensuretheRHAcomplieswithitsstatutoryobligations.Keyresponsibilitiesandduties:ElectandsetupH&Srepresentativemeetingsasperstatutoryrequirements.OverallresponsibilityandcomplianceoftheCompany’sH&S,makingsurestaffareawareoftheimportanceandfollowsafetyprotocol.AdviseRHAmembersonallaspectsofHealth&Safety.Implementpracticalandeffectivemethods,bothpreventativeandremedial,ofpromotinghealthandsafetyandsafeworkingpracticesintheworkplace.Conduct/organiserelevanthealthandsafetytrainingforstaffasrequired,includingfirstaidandfiresafety.Conductall“riskassessments”asrequiredbylegislationandarereviewedatrelevantintervalsandtomaintainrecordsofthesame.Conduct&carryoutinternalandcomplianceauditsofallRHAsites;reportonfindingsandmanageissuelogthroughtocompletion.CarryoutallriskassessmentsandspecialassessmentsforeachRHAsiteasrequiredbybusiness,includingdisplayscreenequipment,manualhandling,loneworking,forkliftloading,pregnantworkers,youngworkersetc.Co-ordinateandmanagefirstaidandfiresafetyrepresentativesforallRHAsites.Torecommend&implementcontrolmeasuresandadviseonthestandardofP.P.E.issuedtoemployees.Tocarryoutinvestigationsintoallaccidentsandnear-missincidentsandtorecordthefindingsontherelevantforms.AdvisetheTechnicalDirectorofallincidentsreportableunderR.I.D.D.O.R.Conducthealthandsafetyinspectionsandpreparereportsanddocumentsasrequired.Toidentifyareaswheretraining/certificationisrequiredtomeetthestandardsimposedbyLegislation,ApprovedCodesofPractice,orH.S.E.guidance.Arrangesuchtraining/certificationonceidentified.Keepuptodatewithchangesincurrentlegislationandimplementsuchchangeswhererelevant.BringtotheattentionoftheLeadershipTeamanyrelevantnewlegislation.Attendsuchcourses/seminarsrunbyexternalsourcestoenableaccurateinterpretationoflegislationtoenableimplementationwithintheorganisation.LiaisewiththeFacilitiesCo-ordinatortoestablishcontractorhealth&safetyprocedures.ImmediatelycontacttheLeadershipTeamifsituationsarefound,thatintheopinionoftheH&SManager,requireimmediaterectificationorthestoppingofanyoperation.Anyotheradhochealthandsafetydutiesasrequired.2Keyskills:Previousexperienceinasimilarrole/environmentisessential.Previousmulti-siteexperienceisideal.Qualificationinoccupationalhealthandsafety,suchasamasters,NVQ,BSCorNEBOSHnationaldiplomaisessential.UnderstandtheapplicationoftheHealthandSafetyatWorketcAct1974andotherlegislationrelevanttotheCompaniesbusiness.Effectivelyinfluencethoseataseniorlevel.Professionalintheirapproachtodealingwithissuesandemployees.Appreciationofconfidentialityanddiscretion.Strongorganisationaloradministrativeskillswithattentiontodetailandamethodicalapproach.FocusedondeliveringoutstandingcustomerservicetotheRHA’sinternalcustomersandcontractors.ITliterateandacomprehensiveunderstandingofWindowsbasedprogrammestoincludeWord,ExcelandOutlookisessential.Theabilitytocommunicateclearlyandconfidentlywitharangeofpeople,bothonthephoneandface-to-face.Strongteamworkskillsareessential.General:Allenquiriesshouldbehandledpromptlyandaccurately.Theremaybeoccasionswhenitisnecessaryfordutiestobeundertakenawayfromtheofficethereforetheremaybeovernightstayswhichwillberequiredawayfromhome.AnyothertaskswhichcanreasonablebeperformedasrequestedbytheRHA.Duetotherolecoveringthehealth&safetyformulti-sites,thepostholdermusthaveacurrentdrivinglicence.October2015
