(Sample)SafetyandHealthTrainingPlan1.0IntroductionTrainingisoneofthemostimportantcomponentswithinourcompany’ssafetymanagementsystem.Itgivesemployeesanopportunitytolearntheirjobsproperly,bringnewideasintotheworkplace,reinforceexistingideasandpractices,andithelpstoputourSafetyandHealthProgramintoaction.Everyoneinourcompanywillbenefitfromsafetyandhealthtrainingthroughfewerworkplaceinjuriesandillnesses,reducedstress,andhighermorale.Productivity,profits,andcompetitivenesswillincreaseasproductioncostsperunit,turnover,andworkerscompensationrateslower.2.0Managementcommitment.We(orcompanyname)willprovidethenecessaryfundsandschedulingtimetoensureeffectivesafetyandhealthtrainingisprovided.Thiscommitmentwillincludepaidworktimefortrainingandtraininginthelanguagethattheworkerunderstands.Bothmanagementandemployeeswillbeinvolvedindevelopingtheprogram.Tomosteffectivelycarryouttheirsafetyresponsibilities,allemployeesmustunderstand(1)theirroleintheprogram,(2)thehazardsandpotentialhazardsthatneedtobepreventedorcontrolled,and(3)thewaystoprotectthemselvesandothers.Wewillachievethesegoalsby:•educatingeveryoneonthenaturalandsystemconsequencesoftheiractions;•educatingallmanagers,supervisorsandemployeesontheirsafetymanagementsystemresponsibilities;•educatingallemployeesaboutthespecifichazardsandcontrolmeasuresintheirworkplace;•trainingallemployeesonhazardidentification,analysis,reportingandcontrolprocedures;and•trainingallemployeesonsafeworkproceduresandpractices.Ourtrainingprogramwillfocusonhealthandsafetyconcernsthatdeterminethebestwaytodealwithaparticularhazard.Whenahazardisidentified,wewillfirsttrytoremoveitentirely.Ifthatisnotfeasible,wewillthentrainworkerstoprotectthemselves,ifnecessary,againsttheremaininghazard.Oncewehavedecidedthatasafetyorhealthproblemcanbestbeaddressedbytraining(orbyanothermethodcombinedwithtraining),wewillfollowupbydevelopingspecifictraininggoalsbasedonthoseparticularneeds.Employees.Ataminimum,employeesmustknowthegeneralsafetyandhealthrulesoftheworksite,specificsitehazardsandthesafeworkpracticesneededtohelpcontrolexposure,andtheindividual'sroleinalltypesofemergencysituations.Wewillensureallemployeesunderstandthehazardstowhichtheymaybeexposedandhowtopreventharmtothemselvesandothersfromexposuretothesehazards.Wewillcommitavailableresourcestoensureemployeesreceivesafetyandhealthtrainingduringthecircumstancesbelow.•Wheneverapersonishired--generalsafetyorientationincludinganoverviewofcompanysafetyrules,andwhythoserulesmustbefollowed.•Wheneveranemployeeisgivenanewjobassignment--duringformalclassroomtraining,andagain,whenthesupervisorprovidesspecifictasktraining.It’sextremelyimportantthatsupervisorsemphasizesafetyduringinitialtaskassignment.•Whenevernewworkproceduresarebegun--duringformalclassroomtrainingandsupervisoron-the-jobtraining.•Whenevernewequipmentisinstalled--ifnewhazardsareintroduced.•Whenevernewsubstancesareused--hazardcommunicationprogrammayapply.•Thebottomline--trainsafetywheneveranewhazardisintroducedtotheemployee.Employeesmustknowtheyareresponsibleforcomplyingwithallcompanysafetyrules,andthatmostaccidentswillbepreventedbytheirsafeworkpractices.Theymustbeveryfamiliarwithanypersonalprotectiveequipmentrequiredfortheirjobs.Theymustknowwhattodoincaseofemergencies.Eachemployeeneedstounderstandthattheyarenotexpectedtostartworkinganewassignmentuntiltheyha...
