HealthandSafetySupervisorJobDescriptionHealthandSafetySupervisorHealthandSafetySupervisorGeneralPurpose:UnderthedirectionoftheRegionalSafetyManagerandProjectManagementteam,theHealthandSafetySupervisorwillberesponsibleforprovidingsupporttotheprojectmanagementteam,supervisors,foremenandworkers.Thispositionwillprovideleadershipandcoordinationoftheday-to-daysafetyrequirementsoftheassignedproject.Scope:TheSafetySupervisorreportstotheRegionalSafetyManagerandisresponsibleforbutnotlimitedtothefollowing:�Providesupporttotheprojectbymaintainingavisiblepresencetothefieldperformingsitevisitstotheentireprojectatleastoncepershift,ifpossiblecoordinatewiththeprojectmanager.�assistinthecoaching,mentoringandimplementationoftheHS&Eprogramsinthefield.�Regularlyreviewandbefamiliarwithallapplicablelegislationandapplicablestandards,toensurecompliance.�Informtheprojectmanagementteamandsupervisionofanyneworconflictivelegislativemattersthatcouldimpacttheproject.�DevelopaSiteSafetyManagementPlan(SMP)fortheprojecttoensureasafeworkenvironmentforallcompanyemployees,contractors,visitorsandcommunity.�RegularlyaudittheSMPforcomplianceandupdatetoensurethealignmentwithprojectscopeandconditions.�Organizeandschedulerequiredsafetystaffandfirstaidcoverage.�Providedirection,supportandresourcetoallsitemanagers,supervisors,foremenandsafetyadvisors.�Ensurethatallincidentsarereportedimmediately.�Participateandassistthesupervisors,foremanandsafetyadvisorsintheinvestigationofincidentstodeterminerootcause,andcorrectiveactionswherenecessary.�Ensureincidentcorrectiveactionsarefolloweduponandcompleted.�Ensureinjuredworkersareofferedmodifieddutiesanddocumentationhasbeencompleted.Monitorandfollowuponmodifiedworkersinthefield.�EnsureSafetyAdvisorsareverifyingfieldstafftrainingandcompetencies;consulttheprojectmanagementteamandRegionalSafetyManagerforcomplianceandactionplan.�Reviewsafetyobligationsoftheclientsandensuretheyarecarriedoutasperthetermsoftheagreement,andcommunicatedtotheProjectManager,Supervisors,ForemanandSafetyAdvisors.�EnsurenewhiresareorientatedtotheValardConstruction,andallrequireddocumentationiscompletedaccuratelyandforwardedtotheheadoffice.�Ensuresafetyboardswithpostingsincludingbutnotlimitedto:Healthandsafetypolicy,inspectionandauditresults,projecthazardassessment,locationoffirstaid,etc.aremaintainedandcurrent.�Ensurethatthefollowingmaterialisavailableandonsite,Valard’sHS&EManual,theapplicableprovinciallegislationandregulations,sitesafetyinspectionforms,observationforms,tailboardsandlogbooks,fallprotectionplansetc.�Preparefor,andparticipateinauditssuchas18001,CORand/orOwneraudits.�Communicate,coachandassistthefieldstafftoensurethatallsafetyexpectationsareunderstoodandmet.HealthandSafetySupervisor�Coordinatearegularmeetingwithprojectsafetyteamtoreviewissues,trendsandupcomingconditionsorevents.�Otherdutiesasrequired.Qualification:�OccupationalHealthandSafetyDegree,DiplomaorCertificateorCRSPwouldbeanasset.�NationalConstructionSafetyOfficerCertificate.�Minimum5yearHealthandSafetyfieldexperience�Minimum3yearofsupervisoryexperience�ProficientinMicrosoftofficeapplications�Theabilitytodemonstratetheapplicationofriskassessmenttocompanyoperationsandactivities.�Goodphysicalcondition�AbilitytotravelSkills/Knowledge:�ExcellentIncidentInvestigationskills�Excellentleadershipandconflictresolutionskills.�Effectivecommunicationskills�Excellentinterpersonalskills�Abilitytoperformunderstressfulconditions�Analyticalskills�Probabilityanddecisionmakingskills�Attentiontodetailandhighlevelofaccuracy�Effectiveorganizationalskills�StressmanagementskillsPersonalAttributesHe/shemustalsodemonstratethefollowingpersonalattributes:�Behonestandtrustworthy�Berespectful�Possessculturalawarenessandsensitivity�Beflexible�Demonstratesoundworkethics�Bepunctual
